2018 Girard Chardonnay Russian River Valley Sonoma County
The 2018 vintage for this Chardonnay proved nearly ideal with even ripening and a long, evenly paced harvest. Due to the region’s geography and typically cooler climate, thanks to a nightly blanketing fog layer, grapes tend to ripen slower and develop a vibrant acid structure characteristic of the Russian River Valley. The quality of fruit was once again impressive. Lively aromas of fresh-picked nectarines and baking spice swirl together, while zesty Meyer lemon and Gala apple flavors flood the palate. The finish is creamy and mouthwatering marked by hints of nuttiness and minerality.
