2020 Lumen Escence Skin Contact Pinot Gris Santa Barbara County
Lumen Escence is the first orange wine ever produced by Lumen. We picked our favorite Pinot Gris at Sierra Madre Vineyard a few weeks early, which means it had low sugars and high acidity, then fermented on the skins for a full 12 days. The resulting wine is full of character: meyer lemon, orange zest, grapefruit rind and wet stone minerality. Aged 5 months in neutral oak
100% Pinot Gris

Tasting Notes: Pale copper/salmon color. Nose: Ripe golden apple, pear, candied lemon, honeysuckle, waxy, blanched nut, fennel frond. Palate: Ripe strawberries and cream, lively and creamy all at once. Rich mid-palate with tons of snap and vigor. Honeysuckle, ginger and apple skin all merge on the palate. Just the slightest grip from the skin contact.
